Bio-Leadership Ground Workshop, UK
A Core Bio-Leadership Programme
Our three-day ‘Ground Workshops’ are foundational programs to support new forms of leadership, inspired by nature, for the good of all people and planet.
Each programme starts from a place that this is a critical moment in history. It is a moment to radically transform not only our organisations and systems, but the stories of leadership and progress that define how those systems are built.
Each Ground Workshop is a journey exploring how to navigate this moment in time. It begins by exploring the dynamics of change that we live in. From here, we work to understand and apply a more generative set of tools and principles for designing social structures, inspired by healthy natural systems. And from here we go deeper, exploring a deeper set of internal qualities, necessary for navigating the complexity of our times. These ‘inner tools’ are related to cultivating resilience, connection, systemic awareness, regeneration and care for a world greater than ourselves.
Around all of this, we work to connect and support each other as an ‘ecosystem’ of people and projects, capable of transforming not just organisations and social systems, but the very paradigm of what leadership means.
Impact
Each workshop is designed to support three levels of impact:
Change through ourselves as agents of action and change
Change through our communities and organisations as influences on our wider systems and planet
Change through a new paradigm of leadership - the lens and narrative through which we define progress and success in the world
If we can reconnect these three levels to the nature of living systems, then we can transform our life and work for the good of all human systems and the planet we are all part of.
The intention is also to work as a tribe, inquiring and learning together – both in this group and as part of a wider ‘ecosystem’ of people connecting and growing a new form of work in the world.
Who is this for?
People who believe that our human systems need to change, and that our systems are driven by an outdated view of leadership and development. We call for changemakers, facilitators, innovators and anyone else who is asking themselves some of these questions:
How can I plan for a future that’s so unknown?
Is there a new model of human progress that will work for this rapidly changing world?
How can I help change the game?
How can I find a role in this movement, with others?
The Bio-Leadership journey is woven through three threads:
1. Thinking + Application
This thread is about tools, stories and models to help us work practically with how we organise and structure systems and organisations. It is the kind of learning we can think about with intellect and apply in practice to logical structures.
2. internal qualities
This thread is about developing a deeper set of ’embodied’ qualities to navigate this moment. These qualities are related to awareness, connection, resilience, adaptability, and love. These are the invisible, ‘inner’ resources and tools we need when the path ahead is unknown.
3. collective field impact
This thread is about all of the things that we might work on as a community with the intention of growing this kind of work and development in the world. It includes dynamics related to culture, learning, power, belief systems and more.
As important as anything, we do this by returning to nature: reconnecting with our own capacity to experience nature, and working with nature to inform our actions beyond this space.
Guiding Questions
What is ‘business-as-usual’ and how can we change the narrative?
What is this moment we’re in, and how can we use it to navigate and transform today’s structures and systems?
How do we balance internal qualities and external actions to bring about a new form of life and work?
How can we work collectively to bring this new way of working to the world?
New Stories
An real, human, honest, open exploration of the important moment we are in.
Work that blends head, hands and heart.
Insights and practices brought in from diverse fields and cultures.
An exploration of five kinds of Bio-Leadership story:
New forms of purpose and progress
New organisational forms
New ways of working as ecosystems
New, regenerative social and organisational models
New cultures of deep connection
A blend of modern leadership practice and science with ancient principles of force, movement, power and change.
A combination of personal practice and reflection with group dialogue and conversations.
A deep sense of purpose and urgency from a place of stillness - patience - letting go in order to help something extraordinary to emerge.
A place that feels like home to work from - with lots of open space, good good, a river, a forest and time to wander at the place we all call home
Guides
Andres Roberts
Andres is a guide to human development in relationship with nature. His work brings together innovative approaches to leadership and change, wisdom from ancient cultures and deep work with nature to support more generative forms of living and working for our times. He is the founding partner of the Bio-Leadership Project and co-founder of Way of Nature UK, a project that works with contemporary rites of passage to support deep transformation.
Jamie Pike
Jamie began his working life as a creative psychotherapist. In this time he was struck how that it is “no measure of health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society”. Hoping to inspire wider systemic change he spent a number of years creating and developing values led companies that challenge the business as usual approach.
His work seeks to bring pragmatism, courage and hope to people who are ready to embrace new forms of leadership that promote system change and proliferate regenerative cultures.
He is a partner and strategic lead for the Bio-Leadership project alongside his private practice as a mentor and guide.
